Today & the check-in
The daily check-in in a morning and an evening half, your questions, extras, the day note, and streaks.
Today is one check-in for the day, in two halves. The morning half is about the night just gone and what you take before noon; the evening half is about the day and the rest of your list. Your morning and evening reminders each open their half.
Each half has Your experiment, while a run has something in it, then What you track, which always shows so you can add to it; the evening half ends with Anything else. Progress and Check all sit on top.
Your experiment
Only while an experiment is running and has something in that half: its dose, highlighted with an accent bar (it carries your adherence), and the questions it asks.
- Experiments can attach their own questions (side effects, subjective outcomes) that appear here only while the run is live — scale questions get a start→end comparison in the outcome.
- A curated sleep experiment adds the daily questions its protocol needs, marked *Required*, some with a line under them saying what they cover (that caffeine includes pre-workout and supplements, say). A question you already track in the same wording is asked once, as the experiment's. If yours is worded differently, the experiment's version takes its place until the run ends, and your earlier answers stay. The ones every sleep experiment asks can't be edited, turned off, moved between morning and evening, or deleted until the run ends or you stop it; you can still reorder them and clear a day's answer. On a day you've logged your experiment's change (an alcohol-free night, say), the matching question isn't asked again: that log answers it. You can run one curated sleep experiment at a time.
- Most curated sleep experiments also ask you to rate last night's sleep from 0 to 10, as the first thing in the morning half. It's asked before you see your wearable's numbers, so they don't sway your answer: until you rate it, the Health page holds last night's figures back, and *Show my numbers anyway* shows them. A morning you skip records nothing. You can rate an earlier morning of the run from that day on Today, and tap your answer again to clear it.
- In the evening half, Log a change records something that happened that day and can affect your sleep data: moving to a different time zone, starting, stopping or changing a medicine, a different or reset wearable, or moving to a new home or changing bedroom. It's never asked as a question; log it on the day it happens, and remove it if you logged it by mistake.
What you track
Everything else on your list, which assembles itself — you never build it by hand:
- Supplements (from your stack, at their set times; paused ones are hidden until their pause ends)
- Medications
- Custom habits (Health → Daily habits: sauna, meditation, anything recurring)
- Your own questions, in three flavors: yes/no, 1–5 scales, and counts
Check items off as you go. Every tick feeds your adherence and streak — and adherence is what makes an experiment result trustworthy rather than a guess. You can navigate to previous days and back-fill honestly.
Add a question with Add a question in either half, or Add questions (Edit questions once you have some) at the top: pick from the library (substances, recovery, sleep, nutrition, lifestyle, state, and cycle and hormones) or write your own. The library's sleep questions (alcohol, caffeine, a late meal, hard exercise, screens, heat, nicotine, cannabis, illness, time-zone travel, night shifts, sleep aids) use the same wording as COHORT's sleep experiments, so they are the questions an experiment asks. A question's ⋯ menu moves it to the other half or turns it off.
Why your answers matter: they become confounders on your experiments. Each run's detail page shows what else was going on during it.
Anything else
The end of the evening half, for the whole day, whether or not you have anything else set up:
- Log something extra: one-off things outside the plan (a sauna, a late espresso, a one-off painkiller), so your results carry real-life context.
- The day note: *"How's today going?"* — a private free-text reflection that autosaves.
